Wisdom and knowledge are two separate things. One may be wise with no formal education, or one may be a fool and have advanced degrees up to their eyeballs. Of course, it always is a plus to have facts to base your wise judgements upon.

I think the answer to this is yes, there are many elderly people whom have had no formal education, however, they do have wisdom from living. Obviously, you do not get old being a fool, so to speak. Life experience can teach you a great deal and you can learn from others experiences also. I believe sometimes age is the only thing that does bring upon wisdom.

no.
proverbs chapter 4 verse 7&8; " Wisdom is the prime thing. Acquire wisdom, and with all that you acquire, acquire understanding. highly esteem it, and it will exault you. It will glorify you because you embrace it." If one does not pursue even the most basic of education, ie. reading and writing, one cannot acquire true wisdom. Proverbs chapter 2 verse 6,"For Jehovah himself gives wisdom; out of his mouth there are knowledge and discernment." God gives wisdom through the pages of the bible. Since 2 Timothy chapter 3 verse 16 says,"all scripture is inspired of God and beneficial for teaching, reproving, for setting things straight, for disciplining in righteousness, that the man of God may be fully competent and completely equipped for every good work."
you dont need to spend thousands of dollars to aquire wisdom in higher education. Wisdom takes many forms. But without the basic education of reading and writing, wisdom is difficult to obtain.

Wisdom = the correct and judicious application of accumulated knowledge, regardless of the source of the knowledge.
So, if you have wisdom (the ability to apply knowledge/education), the more education you have, the more far reaching will be your wisdom.
Also, if you don't know how to get the message across, the content doesn't really matter, does it?

I think so. Common sense, gaining knowledge from life's many lessons, reading, and gleaning information from those around us can lead us to be astute even without a formal education

It would seem to me that yes it is possible as I know several well educated people that must have went to College to get stupid.
Schools teach you things, life teaches you how to apply those things.
