Remember Bush in the air force uniform? What a joke...

He was enlisted in the National Guard. He failed to fulfill his guard obligations, though, and there was quite a controversy during the 2000 election when papers that showed he had not fulfilled his obligations but was excused surfaced. Daddy's influence certainly got him out of that mess. He never did any combat duty.

Your question is a joke . George W. Bush served in the National Guard . George W. Bush is a grown man . George Herbert Walker Bush spent most of his life in service to this country . It is extremely doubtful that he would even remotely attempt to fabricate anyone's military record ; not that he'd need to . In the real world , once you reach adulthood , your dad does not arrange your schedule .

Seems dodging military service runs in the cabinet.

Dick Cheney:

Cheney was of military age and a supporter of the Vietnam War but he did not serve in the war, applying for and receiving five draft deferments. On May 19, 1965, Cheney was classified as 1-A , "available for service" by the Selective Service. On October 26, 1965 the Selective Service lifted the constraints on drafting childless married men. Cheney and his wife then had a child after which he applied for and received, a reclassification of 3-A, gaining him a final draft deferment.

In an interview with George C. Wilson that appeared in the April 5, 1989 issue of The Washington Post, when asked about his deferments the future Defense Secretary said, "I had other priorities in the '60s than military service."

LOL Draft dodging or draft deferment?

At the time that GW was in the air force, the elder Bush was simply some rich guy. He wasn't the president, he wasn't a governor, he wasn't even a major player in the republican party. He wouldn't hav e had the power to control what happened to GW in the air force.

As Scott B said, he flew jets. That's also more than Bill Clinton did. Remember him? The President who entered college on the promise to enter the National Guard in order to avoid the draft, but then never fulfilled the promise? (The first of many broken promises)

Who knows? The truth has been so muddled.

And the president is the Commander in Chief of our armed forces so I'd say he's entitled to wear any military uniform he wants to.

Bush single-handedly saved Houston from the Viet Cong, while fully inebriated.

Unlike John Kerry, Bush released his complete records and we are not talking about the forged documents shown on CBS.

He signed up and served in the National Guard reserves. Never faced combat or was deployed anywhere.

BTW, does it matter?

He flew Jets. That is more than guardsmen in the Navy in Nebraska. Navy Guardsmen from Nebraska are in Iraq now, so how safe was it then and now? Service is service
