I just found out that I am pregnant. I am very early in the pregnancy- only two days late for my period. I am concerned about miscarriage bc I read the rate is 20%. Has anyone else been concerned with this and when are you out of the woods- 13 weeks? I am a little nervous but so excited that I am pregnant!

i think most women worry about having a miscarriage, but don't stress yourself out about it. unfortunatley there is nothing you can do to stop it if its going to happen, and its usually because something is wrong with the baby. when you hit 13 weeks the chance of a miscarriage drops drastically. just try to sit back, relax and enjoy the next 9 months. don't worry if you expericene some mild cramping, it your uterus expanding making room for the baby. if you experience bleeding and/or extreme cramping, then call your doctor. congratulations and good luck!

I do not believe you are out of the woods until after the birth. I lost a child early in my pregnancy, and one at 5 1/2 months along. The first for no apparent reason, the second had alot to do with stress, deaths in my family 3 from a car accident, and my grandfather from natural causes( heart attack)When you loose a pregnancy it always happens for a reason.
I also had an incident where I thought I was pregnant for about 6 months before I was seen. I should have gone to the DR before that, I was young and dumb.
Good luck with your pregnancy. It is an exciting time. My daughter and her husband are expecting and due with their 2nd child in late February or early march. We do not know yet what we are getting.
A lot depends on family history, your health. Get good check ups and do what the doctor tells you to do. I hope and pray that all goes well for you. Is this your first pregnancy?

That's a very common concern. As far as "out of the woods", I don't think there is ever truly such a time, but the standard thinking is that your biggest risk is during the first 12 weeks.
Get used to worrying, because it starts the moment you find out you are going to be a mom, unfortunately. But it's that same worry that guides us to be great mothers. Just focus on positive thoughts and enjoy this time! Good luck.

I've read that you are most likely to miscarry in the first three months so many women don't tell anyone of their pregnancy until they pass that point. However, people have been known to miscarry as late as the 9th month. But don't worry, odds are you won't. I worried all the time during mine, but everything came out fine. I'm sure yours will go smoothly too. Good luck!

Congratulations! How exciting for you. For one, don't worry about it. Worrying won't prevent it and it will stress you out. Usually after you've finished your first trimester the risks lower significantly. Go to your doctor immediately and start your prenatal vitamins, get tips for eating right and cut out caffeine and alcohol. I hope you have a happy and healthy pregnancy and baby! God bless.

Most women think about it early on. Your risk for miscariiage goes down after the first trimester.
