A lot more than you can get from one plant. The cotton has to be cleaned, seeds removed, spun, plyed, woven and then the shirt cut from the cloth.

I have sheared sheep, and washed and cleaned the wool. It is still sitting in pillow cases in my closet waiting for someday when I stop knitting from store bought yarn and sit down and do some spinning. I haven't tried spinning cotton yet, it's a bit harder than wood because the staples (fibers) are a lot shorter.
