My premature son has been taking aminophylline for apnea and bradycardia for several weeks now, and it's almost time for him to stop. I am a little nervouse about it, but my main question is, if your baby has taken it, did you notice a difference in their sleep patterns, as the medication is a central nervous system stimulant.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

My premature son who is now almost 10 months used Aminophylline when he was 2 months till he was 5 months old, and when he stopped there were no problems until he started teething 4 or 5 weeks later. So don't worry.

Good luck.

My son is 8 months, on time, and didnt take any medicine, however, I would imagine if it is a nervous system stimulant, that it will affect his sleeping patterns being on it and transitioning to being off of it. A great place to ask this question would be a yahoo group for parents with premature babies. Just search the web for any kind of premature baby support group. I'm sure there is one out there. Also ask your child's doctor or any nurses. They should know the answer to this question.
