It could be an ingrown hair, yes, which is one reason why waxing is better than shaving: fewer ingrowns and less itch as the hair grows back in. Other pluses to Brazilian waxing: it will last longer than shaving; it will get you smoother than shaving; it's a lot quicker than shaving and you don't run the risk of cutting yourself with the razor! On the other hand, downsides to Brazilian waxing: it's more expensive than shaving and you do have to make an appointment with a professional if you want it done properly; you have to let the hair grow out quite a bit more than you do with shaving in order for the wax to have something to adhere to; if you have delicate skin, you could find that the wax will tear your skin-another reason you want to go to a professional to have it done; and the number one drawback? Yes, it hurts like hell-but only for a few seconds. Eventually, the more often you get it done, the hair will come out more easily and it won't hurt as much. Personally, I think it's worth it but that's something that you have to decide for yourself. Try it and see what you think. You can always go back to shaving if you decide it's not for you.
Good luck!

Any type of waxing hurts but lasts 6-8 weeks. Soak in a hot but not too hot tub 2-3 times a day or apply hot wet towels 2-3 times a day. That way the pimple can drain and not form an abscess. This may take 3-4 days to drain so that it can heal. It could be an ingrown hair. Hope you get better soon.

WAX it. Shaving sucks and it gives you major rash right away. You might have an ingrown hair, or you know how the shaver actually cuts, well you coulda introduced bacteria into it and now have a pimple... i suggest exfoliate gently, wash well, and dont sweat too much. yes it hurts to wax but it is far more worth it to not have to shave all the time and irritate constantly.

Sounds like an ingrown hair, yes, I wouldn't recommend shaving there, you'll get that a lot. Waxing dioes hurt, but it depends how high your pain threshold is, personally I could cope with it fine. If you don't fancy waxing, why not consider using a depilatory cream? It's probably the easiest option.

ouch...it could be...or it could just be a pimple. just leave it alone. it should heal in a couple of days like all pimples. so far i've shaved...but am interested in brazillian waxing...but without the pain that i'm imagining. i think if you get it done a few times, it'll not hurt as much...but the first time...i'm still not brave enough.

Waxing does hurt, but is longer lasting. Get a laser treatment for best results. I can't see the "afro look" coming back. Once we took down the curtains, we have gotten used to the light.
