Does anybody remember subscrption televison. In the L.A. area there was ON-TV and Selec-TV. It was basically a decoder box that unscrambled a UHF signal and it was only one channel. Did you ever have this service and was it available outside Southern California

I believe that UHF receivers have always been built into all TVs, so a decoder box should not have been needed.

I'm in Wisconsin and believe they had Selec-TV here. I didn't have it but it seems to me I remember friends in Milwaukee who did. Quite a few years ago though.

Yes I remember it. We had ON-TV in Chicago back in the 80's. It pretty much sucked, but it was a novelty at the time. Once real cable came on the scene it went the way of the dinosaurs............ extinct.

Am I that old? ON-TV was only for the rich people in Ohio. We tried watching it through the UFH channel but it was mostly fuzz

Not sure. I know we had a wierd little cable box in the early '70's. HBO was mainly boxing back then so my parents got rid of it.
