If you do, why?

I think its preposterous, as Carpenter edges him in nearly every statstisical category and is playing for a playoff bound team.

I'm just curious to this insane logic.

A week ago, Carpenter had the lower ERA, but two 6 er outings raised it above three. Carpenter will get one more start to have a shot at his win, against Miluakee, no less. I'm not saying Webb is bad, I'm saying he doesn't deserve it over Carpenter, who has more k's and a lower WHIP in less innings pitched.

With 111 walks and a 1.30 WHIP, Zambrano shouldn't be considered at all! Oswalt is a better candidate than him!

I think it comes down to whether you consider playing for a good team to be a consideration when voting.

The stats are almost even - Webb has one more win, and a better ERA, while Carpenter has the better WHIP and is the better strikeout pitcher.

I think you could make the case for either guy. If you consider team success to be a component, then it's Carpenter. If not, then it's really a tossup.

Webb is a strong candidate, as well as Zambrano. Webb actually owns a better ERA and has won one more game than Carpenter.
Zambrano has the edge regarding wins and strikeouts, and is pitching today. If the big guy throws a good one (low score, lots of K's), the race will be very tight.

I think he has a shot but Johan "Cy"tana already is in a lock to win the Cy Young
