Our radio was taken away at work and we were told is was because they could not afford a license, does anyone have any helpful info?

What do you mean by, 'at work', ? As I understand it, the requirement for a licence is for PUBLIC broadcasting etc. not for use in a 'back shop' or an office where only staff can hear.

For clarification you can contact the PRS 'Performing rights Society' Also MAY only apply to music and tv/video not news and speech programs.

I believe that it is up to the broadcasters to have the appropriate license. But the law does seem to be a bit of a minefield.
