internet phone and calls?

I signed up for pc calling with yahoo I was given an area code out of my state why? If a friend localy calls me do they have to dial one # is it long distance

Because the Yahoo server is in that area! I would think they may have to use that code, aint sure.

Probably any call out of your original dialing area is long distance, other than 800 numbers, and 911 calls.
