What should I do when everybody in the whole school starts hating you because you gossip alot?

okay yesterday i gossiped about this girl and i told my friend about this and she went off and told everyboyd that i talking about this girl and i have no idea what to do so please help i'm so desperate!!!!!!!!!!!!

Some mistakes, sorry to say, just have to be lived down. When you gossip, lots of people want to listen, even help you do it, BUT...

... it makes them wonder what you say about them when they aren't around. Most people figure that anyone who will gossip TO you will gossip ABOUT you.

This is one of those life mistakes where nothing works as well as eating your serving of humble pie. Time to go to the girl you gossiped about and apologize. Simply, sincerely, WITHOUT explanations or excuses. True, your friend shouldn't have told anyone what you said, but she didn't open your mouth and say it - and that's what you're responsible for. A simple, "I'm really sorry - my mouth just kind of took off without me and I said some things that were pretty awful. I can't unsay any of it, but I'm sorry and I hope it didn't hurt you." She gets to say whatever she wants, which will probably be pretty hurtful, but after apologizing, you get to walk away with your head up and know you did the right thing.

Next, no gossiping. You are on a gossip-free diet. People need to know they can trust you - which means you don't blab. Really, the world's a big place, full of interesting stuff you can talk about.

Sorry to say, you'll have to live this down, and the fastest way to do that is not to gossip at all, so people get comfortable with the fact that you can be trusted again. Good luck!
