Sketch out a network! You need a modem to connect to the net, you need a router to connect to the modem, and you need 2 or more PCS connected to the router.

It's a fairly simple setup:

A- You need internet connection. In most modern cases, you'll have an external modem from your Internet Service Provider (ISP) connected to the phone or cable jack in the wall. This plugs into one of 2 things. In your case it will plug into a router.

B- A router splits a signal so that it can be used by more than one computer at a time. (Depending on your modem, you may be able to get away with a hub, but a router will always work.) So a network cable goes from the external modem to the Uplink port on the router. (Some routers can auto-detect which cable is the uplink, so you can plug into any port.)

C- Every computer now has to be connected to this router. Run network cable from the router to all computers. If you have more computers than ports on the router, you can run cable to a second router or hub.
