does this mean that non gays are entitled to "non gay rights" and if so what are they?

YES... and i want a parade darn it!!!!

I don't want to hear that equality crap, because last time i checked there was no 'yay I'm straight parade'

I totally 100% approve of EQUAL rights...ie: for employment/ medical benefits, marriage etc. but some isn't about equality at all... it is attention seeking =)

Gays and lesbians are only seeking the same rights as privledges enjoyed by straight America.

It sounds like you are confusing the inclusion of gays under non-discrimination protections such as equal treatment in housing and employment (as in can't get be denied housing or be fired just because the bank/landlord or boss finds out you are gay) with something other than the fact that we were specifically left out of these protections for other minorities. Oh, wait, we were included under hate crimes so that after we are killed, someone can maybe get into more trouble IF the local DA feels like it.

As far as marriage goes, churches do marry us. We are only asking for equal recognition and treatment by the government as straights. We pay taxes and we have families, yet we get none of the same legal, insurance, and tax benefits as everyone else. That's not equal treatment - it's discrimination. The only real resistance to civil union terminology is that it's going down the road of "separate but equal" which has never actually resulted in equal, just separate.

Ha ha, what they mean by Gay Rights is basically equal rights. But because they're gay they feel the need to label it as Gay. You and I could get married no problem (assuming you're a girl) but a gay couple could not because same sex marriage isn't legal in many places. So gay rights would be " Gay people have the same right to marriage as non gay people". And so on

As citizens of a nation, it's a matter of civil rights, regardless of preference. Articles 9 and 10 of the bill of rights say this:
"The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people. The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the states respectively, or to the people."
Criticisms that render the Ninth Amendment a judicial nullity do just what the Ninth Amendment commands judges not to do: "deny or disparage other [rights] retained by the people."
What is implied in the present 9th Amendment is that, in addition to the rights specified by the states, there is a universe of rights, possessed by the people as latent rights, and still to be evoked and enacted into law.

well we do demand equal rights because this is the world we all live in and share with. The fact is everyone with good intentions deserves equal rights.

That is to say those with evil intentions must die, but that is to be put aside.

Most of the people fears everything they do not understand. there's time they were told to get along and give equal rights.

You Moron. "non- gay" rights are ALL the freedoms and advantages that everyday couples have had since the beginning of time. We live in a very "strait" world where the rules are set up to cater to men and women as couples only. When you hear about "family values" the term is always used in the man/woman/child contexts. That "rule " was set up by a strait world forever ago and it seems that ANYTIME ANYONE uses the term in any other form that they are some radical liberal trying to destroy society!
Your question within itself is ridiculous since you apparently seem to be unaware of the fact that YOU ALREADY ARE LIVING IN A DAY AND AGE WHERE YOU HAVE "NON-GAY" RIGHTS. THEY HAVE BEEN GIVING TO YOU BY ALL THE FAT, ANGLO,RACIST,HOMOPHOBIC BIGOTS THAT RUN THE WORLD AROUND YOU! Us queers actully have to fight for the same rights that you breeders enjoy from the day you were born and that just sucks. So next time you go to the movies and get to make out with your lover in the backrow during a movie or get to hold hands with the one you love as you walk down the street remember that in most closeminded cities if a queer couple tryed that same thing you take for granted we could get beat or possiably killed due to sheer hate and ignorance....Imagine how different your life would be.....

Gay rights are simply rights that non gays already have that gays don't have. We're just looking for equality, not a special status as some people would have you believe.

Being straight entitles me to be able to marry and convey my legal rights to my wife when I die or am in urgent need of medical attention among other things.

I also get tax breaks and employee benefits such as medical insurance.

If you think about it, gays are kind of in limbo. On the one hand, official policy encourages abstinance before marriage.

On the other, official policy does not allow gay marriage. Obviously these two policies are not very well thought out...
