All For Gay Marriage

At first I was thinking "Are you kidding me?" Because it seems the world is catering to the gay community more than ever these days. However, regarding gay marriage, my thought is, if you belong to a church that practices gay marriage, fine. Personally, my religion teaches that it is for a man and a woman who want to make a union before God. If you can convince people like me that God meant something else, show me!

The United States was originally founded by religous fundamentalists from Europe. These fundamentalists were totally against homosexual relationships, and that persists through today. You don't see this kind of anti-gay sentiment in Europe so much, where religion is a little more liberal (well, for the most part).

However, it is also possible that the gay community is currently one of the "evil minorities" that the public is "fighting." If you look at American history, every major chapter is defined by an "enemy," which may have threatened the culture, or at least was perceived a threat. These include redcoats, communists, african americans, nazis, and so on. Many Americans, especially the less educated Americans, love to have someone to hate or fear.

There are probably other reasons too. If it's any consolation, all of the past enemies that didn't try to commit genocide have been forgiven or apologized to for the most part. It's an ongoing process, of course, and change takes time, but eventually homosexuals will probably become more socially accepted.

I believe it may have something to do with the fundamentalist christian sitting in the big seat and the large number of 'bible thumpers' that feel that every day life should be dictated by a book written over 2000 years ago at a time when they believed the world was flat. They say it's all about procreation and it's why 'god' put us here but really, have a good look around, do we want Half of these people breeding? To me, live and let live, why stop someone wanting to marry because of their sexuality, do they think stopping it is going to make them straight and rush out to have 2.4 kids?

Marriage was an institute that God, yes the God of the Judean Christian Holy Bible, created between a man and a woman. The Bible calls homosexuality an abomination. America was founded on Christian beliefs and some of us are still trying to hold America to them.
