You'll need a jack hammer and a small, controlled explosive charge. It's also a good idea to have a bucket of melted chicken fat handy. Delivery companies are such sissies.

There should be a shut off valve on the gas supply line for the dryer. Shut it off. There should be arrows showing what direction to turn it. You should only be able to turn it 1/4 or 1/2 turn. It's not like a water valve. After you shut off the gas, use a crescent wrench to disconnect the gas line. Reverse this procedure for connecting the new one. After turning on the gas, use soapy water on the connection to check for leaks. You will get bubbles if there is a leak. Good Luck!!!!! This is a very easy procedure and should not require calling the gas company or a plumber.
The gas company will take forever and the plumber will cost anywhere from $75 to $100.

Like the other person said, turn off the gas at the valve on the pipe leading to the dryer. Loosen the connection with the proper sized wrench (adjustable wrench should do the trick). Note how tight it feels when loosening it. Purchase the necessary sealer (if required) and leak testing fluid (or mix up some soapy water) at Home Depot for hooking up the new gas line. Be sure to test for leaks. It's not difficult.

Check out the link below. Just be sure the flex connector and fittings are compatible. The vent is hooked properly. Soap up the gas line to make sure there are NO gas leaks. If the vent is not hooked up properly it a can cause carbon monoxide posioning.
If in doubt get a professional.

Hope it helps.

By calling the gas company. Seriously. I would do it for myself, but I would not recommend it to someone who has to ask how. Ask a few people you know, you may know someone who feels comfortable doing it, but I highly recommend that you call a professional. What good are your clean clothes if the next time you wear them they are on your dead body? EDIT.....BUGBEARshould have told you that gas lines are usually reverse thread, meaning if you turn it in the wrong direction you will strip the fitting, and also that a crescent wrench is adjustable and made of ferrous material meaning that if it slips it could create a spark igniting the gas in the line and blowing your fool head off for listening to an idiot. CALL THE GAS COMPANY. THE ONLY STUPID QUESTIONS ARE THE ONES YOU DO NOT ASK. The only stupid answers are the one's given without regard for the safety of others (are you reading this bugbear?)

"first",unplug it, then turn the gas off (there should be a shut off valve just before the gas line (the funny looking pipe) in back of the dryer. once the valve is "off" and your behind the dryer you will see coming out at the bottom a small pipe nipple that the funny looking pipe is attached to, loosen the hex nut by turning it clockwise. once it comes apart carefully move it to the side & remove the dryer.

You really should get a plumber to do it. Around here they would charge about $60, but at least you do not explode your house.
Also, if you have flexible gas hose, many places now say you have to have the non-flexible kind.
