I'm curious, how many of you ladies would prefer to buy unique handcrafted fashion jewelry over the mass produced things at a department store?
Assuming the pricing is around the same and the quality is very good.

This is so good to hear. I recently started to sell my own designs, but buisness has been very slow. I thought no one was interested, but maybe I need to do more advertisement and networking!

I love handmade jewelry and enjoy making it , but I also love buying from regular jewelry too. I do handmade jewelry and I have my own website it can be a wear and tear just having just handmade jewelry. I think people really don't appreciate handmade jewelry.

I've bought handmade jewelry and I still will. It's unique and I find myself trying to make some of the same things.
I just like it because you know it's unique and that someone made it and wasn't mass produced.

Whatever I thought looked best but I have bought handcrafted before and it seemed to be just as well made as the mass produced product.Basicly it depends on the place you get it at.

Definately. I've bought a lot of hand made jewelry - my favorite places to find it are rock & gem shows, craft fairs, and especially New Age and psychic fairs - those always seem to have vendors with beautiful jewelry. I've bought rings, earrings, and pendants. I'd much rather have something unique than something mass-produced.

I get mine from ebay. I also got some of my pieces from a local art market. I try to get one of a kind stuff. My daughter, (she's 5) has a better selection than I do.
Also one of my friends makes jewelry, all hand beaded and she does awesome work. She does commissioned pieces. Unfortunately she does not have a website.
ebay is a good place to start though.

Yes.. and i frequently do. But sometimes i've noticed with handmade jewellery the fittings, such as the clasps are not as tight as with the mass produced things at department stores, but then again.. guess we've all had our mishaps!

Do some leg work. I bet there are many sole owner businesses around your residence. THat's where you should start. You will get alot of rejections but you only need a couple of places. Tell them you will give them a cut of the profit. Try salons, boutiques...basically anywhere women would shop.

Yes, handmade jewelry is first of all pretty cheap, and also pretty cool, because usually nobody will have the same piece of jewelry that you have, so it's unique.
