I was caught in an emergency (of which I was not responsible) and asked my boyfriend of almost two years to lend me £330, repayable in three months, to avoid the bailiffs.
I work very hard as a Teacher Assistant – a very fulfilling, but modestly paid job, and a job for which I’m overqualified. My boyfriend, who successfully runs two businesses, promptly lent the money. However, he started questioning my lifestyle choices so abusively, that I didn’t have an option but to send him back the money and face the removals people as well as the threat of the county court. He didn’t want to see me under the argument that “your court problems are yours – not mine”. He also let me know that he changed the lock of his flat, so I couldn’t use the key.
Before, he had offered me “treats” by far more expensive than this loam. I accepted some, but refused most of them, simply because I didn’t need all the things he was offering.
And yet, he still professes to love me. Shall I believe him?

Sometimes, being tough is Love, You may not realise it today, or even tomorrow, but a few years down the line, you will thank him for being tough(only if you learn the lesson that is)
. He s got a point, try and understand it. But also tell him how you feel and you need to be respected regardless of your financial situation. Best of luck

Yes. From your story, you should know that it's not about the money. He is only trying to let you know to avoid situations that would take you to the county court and bailiff.

I think that he loves you, he is just concerned with the choices that you are making in your life. He does not want to see you make bad decisions.

If you can't ask your own bf for a loan without him acting like this then you need to ask yourself if he is really worth it.
