I was taught not to be racist at all. I was taught to live by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s doctrine of judging people by the content of their character. The only problem with that is they like that even less and call me racist because of their chacter flaws. It's a lose lose situation being white with an opinion anymore. I have found in the last few years that generalizing does save time and is accurate 8 out 10 times.

People are taught to be racist. It starts at home. There have been studies done about this situation. Kids of all races were put in a room. They all played together with no recognition of color. Basically studies showed that racism is taught.

Nope. No teaching necessary. Either kids are inherently racist, or they pick up (untaught) cues from their adults. You probably saw the experiment with the kids on 20/20.

Some families outright teach racism and some unknowingly teach racism by teaching to generalize and lump people into groups by differences.

kids learn social skills socially. Ask a class of preschoolers to join hands and make a circle, they just do no matter what color, race, sex, etc. Then people, parents, and ignorance (not knowing) steps in and everything goes.

We are tribal creature, just like monkeys. All we have to be taught is who to be prejudiced against.

It's hard to teach them not to be. Watch adolescents who were raised in painfully liberal homes and neighborhoods—when in high school they will segregate themselves and be opposed to the group that is different.
