I think there are only two requirements to be British royalty:
1. Must be in-bred
2. Must know how to wave

Royal families marry each other for this reason, for example prince philip is German. Lord's and ladies Earles, Duke and Duchess' can take on the role of the royal family. Each member of the aristocracy has an entitlement to the throne, there is however a numbered allotment some families are high in the list, some families are low on the list, It depends upon how long the family has been around and at which point the marries a member of the royal family back in the day.

So you gott get rid of 40 people just for starters and thats just the direct line. After this lot, all their relatives, plus a lot of heridatory peers and then as said you could go back Victoria for german relatives.
However if you got rid of all of them, it's not been uncommon to vote a new King in, Sweden's royal family are descended from a French General who their Council of State chose to be their King.
Charles XIV, 1763–1844, king of Sweden and Norway (1818–44)

It depends how many of them die! There is a very long line of possible succession going to cousins and second cousins if need be.
In some other countries where the royal family has died out, or a monarchy has been introduced without a royal family, then they have adopted someone to start or continue the royal line. For example the Belgium monarchy started from a German prince; the Greek royal family from a Danish prince; and the Swedish royal family, which was on the point of dying out, adopted one of Napoleon's generals to continue their line.
But the British royal family is very well-connected to lots of other royal families and British noble families, so I cannot imagine the circumstances in which they would run out of heirs.

A centuries old family friend (apparently) will take over the throne. That is what usually happens in every aspect of life, whether it's the social aspcet or the political scenario.

There is an incredibly long line of people who are in line to the throne and whoever is next in line, even if they are 200th or 4000th would be king/queen.
