My sister-in-law is pregnant. She has horrible heartburn. She has tried TUMS and all of the other medications that she can take while pregnant. Anyone have any home remedies that are safe to use during pregnacy?

Blanched almonds! They are good for you and they really do stop the heartburn! When I was pregnant (many years ago) I kept a package next to my bed and in my purse at all times. I ate a hand full anytime I had heartburn - day or night. Maybe someone else who reads this can explain why it works - all I know is it does. :}

Oh boy I got heartburn EVERY day when I was pregnant so I totally know how you feel! It's caused by all that extra progestrone the placenta produces. Now of course consult your OBGYN first but my doc said I could take tums or any over-the-counter antacid that contains calcium but not ones that contain aluminum or aspirin or are high in sodium. If you don't want to take tums here are some other ideas: -Avoid chocolate; acidic foods like citrus fruits and juices, tomatoes, mustard, and vinegar; processed meats; mint products; and spicy, highly seasoned, fried, or fatty foods -Don't eat big meals. Instead, eat several small meals throughout the day. Take your time eating and chew thoroughly. -Avoid drinking large quantities of fluids during meals -Try chewing gum after eating. Chewing gum stimulates your salivary glands, and saliva can help neutralize acid. -Don't eat close to bedtime. Give yourself two to three hours to digest before you lie down -Sleep propped up with several pillows or a wedge. Elevating your upper body will help keep your stomach acids where they belong and will aid your digestion. Feel better soon!

Chronic heartburn is usually from acid reflux - stomach acid is getting past the little valve and into your esophagus. You also should know some natural ways to treat your heartburn. Learn them here https://bitly.im/aM9dj

The most immediate thing you can do is to stop drinking coffee and cola. Smoking is not good either, but that might be harder to stop. Don't over-eat. Don't lie down too soon after eating. Don't burp too much - this carries acid up with the burp.

heartburn the most common symptom of acid reflux disease (also known as gastroespohageal reflux disease, or GERD). Heartburn feels like a burning pain in the center of the chest. Sounds like it wouldn't work... but it does.... 1 TBSP apple cider vinegar (natural/organic is best) in a cup of hot water, sweetened with honey or splenda. I find this great for heartburn, found out by accident when i was drinking it for a cold and it stopped the heartburn too!

I used to be on prescription meds for heartburn and acid reflux. I started taking a new product, not sold in stores and I no longer take the prescription meds or any over the counter. It's completely safe. All natural and organic.

Avoid grease and I mean all grease. Avoid all spicy foods. Try to drink milk or cream. She may need to sleep sitting up. I had hearburn sooo bad during all my pregnancies. I spent the last month of my last pregnancy sleeping sitting on the couch. :( Unfortuantly the only thing that will get rid of the heartburn is giving birth. Sorry Just tell her to keep drinking lots of cold milk.

I have been very happy with Pepcid Complete. That is a chewable tablet like Tums, but works much better.

She should also watch what she eats. Even things like tomatoes or citrus fruits can cause trouble.

I also suggest sleeping with the head elevated and drinking more water than normal.

Teaspoon of vinegar -- I think it was apple vinegar. I saw it on a natural remedy infomercial.
