You are best off finding someone with a Liverpool season ticket and asking them to apply for a ticket for you as season ticket holders get priority and don't pay extra admin fees etc. I'm a United season ticket holder and I'm always applying for tickets for mates.
You could become a member of Liverpool fc ( I know United's is only about £20-30 a year) and then you should stand a better chance of getting your tickets directly from Liverpool FC. I know that united hold a ticket ballot for any spare tickets for members available after the season ticket holders and sponsors have had theirs.

From looking at the official Liverpool fc website to be able to buy individual match tickets you need to buy a fan card
which will cost you £3-50 and you can download the application form from the website.Once you receive the fan card you will be able to buy tickets on line for games and the website will tell you when you can buy them for a certain game. The website seems quite straightforward and easy to follow, good luck with buying your ticket I hope your boyfriend enjoys the match as long. as its not against Man City lol.
