Other countries dont have this problem. Have you seen bowling for Columbine?! I think I might move to Canada! J/K Tahiti is more my speed!
Serious ideas though, please.

I'm talking children in schools- the Russian thing was a little different. And of course everyone has different problems. But the new WI principal shooting, etc just don't happen in places like France, Canada, AU...
I went to Australia shortly after Columbine and did a school visit. The kids there asked us about it a lot. They were very freaked out by it because there school was so safe!

I'm not really talking about violence in general... I mean- take away the guns and you just get a bad fist fight right? so are you saying its ok to shoot someone because whales kill seals in order to survive?

not to pick on that person- but that attitude of "we can't do anything about. its normal and OK" doesn't not help fix the problem! in fact, maybe that is the problem! its become acceptable!

Okay... so the way to stop not just school shootings, but most of the violence in this world today, is to look to our children. We need to teach them that although people are different in many, many ways. No one is less human than another. They need to learn to respect everyone. Then we would not have bullies, or the kids that get so bullied that they decide the only way to become more of a "man" or "woman" is by showing they can hurt somebody. That they can be better than everyone else. They also need to learn that everyone is beautiful and special in their own way. Then they won't feel the need to be ...more than they are. (Does that make sense to anyone else?) I guess the bottom line is love everyone, and your children will follow your footsteps. Teach them respect and that different is a good thing, not a bad thing.

yes they do. there was a shooting in a school in Canada not more than a month ago. all you need to do is actually implement real laws not those feel good laws. BTW, Michael Moore is a liberal blow hard. O Riley is a Conservative blow hard and both sides piss me off. where the stop should be is with the parents. what, they didn't notice the slight amassing of sub-machine guns?
school security also needs help. I can get into any campus i want in under a minute without anyone figuring out. giving schools cops with guns are the best ways to deal with armed people getting on campus. It'll even the playing field. Parents and school security are the number one protection, and even then...it may not work. But if anything will make the incidents happen even less often.
Update:
I'm not disredarding fact. I'm pointing out that school shototings happen, and many times the only thing you can do is stop them before they get worse. I live in california, where there are all sorts of gun laws and know for a fact that if i wanted i could get a fully functional AK on the black market for something akin to seventy dollars. Gun control laws that do nothing to control guns fail, all the laws passed that i call "feel good laws" are the type that are passed all the time when it comes to gun control. They are ineffectual, un constitutional and irrelevant to the situation. It is also very easy to over exaggerate facts. Michael Moore does that. I would like to say that the issue here, to put a stop to school shooting is to tighten security. Peoples reactions are hard to control without cringing rights. Giving schools security forces with the adequete means to stop a shooter who is impervious to talking down is the answer. As long as school security stays as lax as it is there will be issues with people entering and doing things. If they cannot enter the campus there will be no problem. I'm not calling for a police state or anything, but the fact of the matter is that schools are generally caught with thier pants down.

Other countries have other problems. Would you consider the Beslan situation in Russia to be a "school shooting".?Violence is a problem the world over. Its not a matter of kids with guns, its a matter of people thinking that they have the right to commit violence on others. The Boys in the Columbine shootings were bullied until they decided to take revenge.

The best deterrent is to make doing so very costly.
But, given the liberal coddling of murderers, what is surprising is that more youth [who of course are not responsible for their actions] are not shooting their schoolmates for their 15 minutes of fame.
Public trials, humiliating public trials, and public executions would make this "gee ain't I bad" activity go away.
Peace

Every body heard about Columbine. Now every qualified official is trying to think in every way to prevent more violence and make school safer. Is this logical?

first we need to get rid of the bill of rights...then change our country into a totalitarian theocracy....Christian, Muslim, Jewish, Buddhist....it doesn't really matter which one....as long as we pick the most extreme views and make it a dictatorship it will work....NOW are you willing to give up all your freedoms and religion and culture to make that happen? ...well neither am i but the question was "how could it be done?"
