I was asked by another user to post something other than something you had to listen to, so here goes! How is it that people from different cultures and different backgrounds can come together and form such a great bond of friendship like we have on YA? We have only SA in common, yet we support each other as if we've been friends for life.

What I'm trying to say is this: we don't know each other, yet we make it a point to answer everyone. Even when we know we won't get 10 points for it. I feel like I've know you guys years. Why is that? I don't make friends that easy. I'm big, fat and ugly with a "koeksister-nose" and you guys know that. Still we are friends. Why?

we all get along because we come from a place that strives on difference and because of this we are able to make friends with people who are different!!!

I think it's because you guys love your country so much! I can see that some of you are abroad. That makes me think that you guys miss having real friends around you. It can be hard to live in another country. I know. And when people have just a little in common, like being South African, one tend to find solace in that and become friends. You all share the same happiness, joy, sorrow, misfortune, and distress even if you are worlds apart. And from what I've heard the South African pride is coupled with great dignity and self-respect. Being South African is not a small thing, like you make it out to be. It is a HUGE thing.

Hey Porgie

You know us Proud South Africans...we always stick together and stand up for each other!! We'll always be friends till the end!! You never know, we might even just go to South African heaven!! I dunno what it is, but we South Africans love each other A LOT!!

Ag Porgie, seriously, who cares what you look like?? Having multicultural friends is like life!! If I never had such an opportunity I'd rather like to be dead!! That's why I can't handle it so much where I live now...coz there are too many white people!! Hey, I was brought up living around multicultural people...(that's why I love Durban and Cape Town so much)...I'm sure if we had to all meet one day and have a party, we'd still be friends forever!! Hahaha, ya, I agree with what Diesel said...yo know you look like Sean Paul!! :-D

Liar.
You are not ugly.
You look like Sean Paul and you know it.
Sean Paul looks very handsome, so do you.

Anyway, to be honest with you, here on Yahoo answers you communicate with someone having no idea whom you are communicating with, until you start to imagine somebody as black or white or asian or coloured or female or male or fat or thin.
For example,
* I thought Kim was black, it turns out that she's white. Now I think she's very beautiful, it will be another surprise if she's ugly.
* I thought Raggae Lover was a boy, it turns out that she's a girl.
* I thought Confused was a male, it turns out that she's a female.
* I thought Brad Morris was a moron, it turns out that he's still a moron.
(I'm sorry Kim, Raggae Lover and Confused).
Number TWO, most of us (younger generation) didn't experience and live apartheid, we only learned about it in schools, so why hate one another?

THAT QUESTION IS FOR MEEEEEEE!!!! Thanks mate!!!!

Well, I think that is because we are THE RAINBOW NATION!!!! Full of colour and fun. So think about it, a rainbow's got lots of colours, so do we, all the colours are attached to each other, we support each other, almost as we are "attached". A rainbow in stories portrays happy thoughts, which makes me think of the fact that we are such great friends!!!

Have a great weekend

I think its because most of us have grown up in south africa..... i dont know if you guys have realized, but south african humour and american or british humour have nothing in common.. we are a nation of understanding people... We have learnt to get along... forget about the bad stuff (government).... i think tyhat because we all brought up in similar environments we can generally relate to eachothers topics or opinions... except for Bad Brads... wanker!

Great is the operative adjective here. Great at what? Denying the truth about the living conditions for the citizens who are still there? Maybe you would be truly great if you accepted it for what it is and did something about exposing it to the betterment of all it's residents instead of living in denial and fantasy.
