Alot of times it is not what we feel that is causing the problem but the way in which we think. If we think of the bad part of things we end up teary eyed, gloomy and depressed. But if we think about the good of things the outlook is alot different.
There are sometimes when we can't control our emotions either because of hormonal imbalances, physical health or the way our brain processes are. In those times we need to seek help from a doctor. They can get to the bottom of it and prescribe the best thing for us.

interesting way to present the question. I'm surprised the controlling emotion allowed you to post the question.
Do you mean pressing and persistent? It depends upon the emotion. If not something that is dangerous, either to yourself or others, you might try experiencing it as intensely as you possibly can... If it was hate, for example, the opposite is to love oneself intensely. Since the love is the same vibrational identity as that of hate, experiencing either satisfies the other.
Best I can do given what you said.
Peace

Uncrontrollable emotions are the cries of a soul that is out of tune with the "Beautiful Sound". Retune your soul as if it were a string on a Lute.
