i am starting a band and i need some ideas on how to get inspiration cause im the songwriter. i write good lyrics but need help witht the melody. also could you tell me how to get my name out there once we get good enough. i need advice on getting cuts, doing home recording and things like that...

I got a few songs myself, and I discovered that for inspiration, always refer to your favourite band - not to copy them - but just as an inspiration... coz your songs (melody/lyrics) should reflect who you are...

Be sure and cover yourself with whatever direction you take so no one steals your ideas. Creating is AWESOME!! Try a website that covers 'songwriters' or 'publishers' or 'Washington DC Pattons', etc.
