those who worry about "appeasement:"
who is going to appease Bush? If anyone else in the world were as violently war-mongering as he, wouldn't we be fighting him?
"Appeasement" also twists the point - cooperation with reasonable nations and people - not actual enemies. Average, peaceful people react better to words than guns and bombs of an invader.
By all means, legitimate (not fabricated) threats must be dealt with, but it's hight time Cons learned that not everyone in the world, least of all Muslims, are militants out ot get us.

I agree - we should call up Bin Laden and invite him to a sit-down.
Oh, and we should for sure ask him to bring his list of demands with him so we'll know all the things we'll have to do to make him happy and thereby start down the happy, happy road to a sweet and peaceful world.
In case you haven't noticed, we DO "try" cooperation and collaboration - all the time, every day, 365 days a year. When that doesn't work and the stakes are high enough, however, we resort to other means.
This is the way the world works. No way around it. No ifs, ands, or buts. It's just reality - might as well get used to it.

United states is not interested in cooperation or collaboration,May be some day when they will have a leader with foresight.In the mean time they will go on filling the dry wells.Lives are of no importance as long as they fulfill their agenda.

We have become masters of War. You do not have to worry about how many US soldiers will die... It is nothing near as many as in previous wars like Vietnam, Korea, WW2, or for that matter the Civil War. The US MILITARY IS THE ELITE WAR MACHINE. We have this thing down pat, we can kill a person on the other side of the world with just the push of a button. That kinda takes all the fun out of war maybe we could just stick to solving problems in the sports arena and see who can use the best enhancement drugs.....After all professional athletes are paid more than anyone at the Pentagon....

Why count the cost? Our enemies will kill us all indiscriminately for free, if they take hold of guns and bombs. And no matter how you reason out with Islamic terrorists, it won't be listened to unless you become a Muslim..
Go back in History and research on the Fall of the Byzantium Empire to the Ottoman Turks. Perhaps you'll understand better, and that history is repeating itself, for all you know.

The real question is, "How many billions of dollars and thousands of lives before the US cuts and runs"
Despite the what conservative machine would have you think, we are already counting down until the last day when the US leaves this quagmire, heads held low. Their only hope is that it doesnt happen on their watch.

I believe that was pretty much the idea behind "a government for the people" and "by the people in order to form a more perfect union".
Or was appeasement more your cup of tea!.....
