If you are a front line soldier, or perform a duty which may take you on to the front line, what are the rules regarding capture (if you are the one that is captured)- are there any recommendations to take your own life or are you merely told to reveal as little as possible and try to ride it out? Thanks.

PS, assuming you are just an ordinary soldier rather than anything more involved in espionage or similar.

You give them the big four Name Rank number and Date of birth
that is assuming the persons who capture you are abiding with the Geneva Convention, if they don't and funnily enough the people we seem to be fighting at the moment don't. Then your screwed. you are not told to take your own life,

You are advised to keep mentally as well as physical health, take part in activities and classes while in the POW camp, try to escape but this is the number one of all soldiers - 'make sure you come home in one piece'. It is a common misconception that soldier are trained to kill - not true! If they kill an enemy then it take two others to bury that individual one with a pick the other with a spade and throw him in the hole. If they are injured then the enemy must look after him, four men to get wounded off battle field, medical orderly and driver to transport to further aid, a team of surgeons to repair the damage and nurses/ psychologists/ physiotherapists for follow up care. Lot more money and effort involved there than dealing with the dead, economics has crept into war too I am afraid to say.

You are only obliged to only reveal you number, rank and name as per The Geneva Convention. The torture word isn't mentioned!

If you are American-there are no rules-that's why the bastards get their arses kicked by any indigenous population that they try to ''democratise''-peace and love to the Middle Eastern people(except Israel)
