Well, I'm just one. But since that's what you asked for, I'll give you my opinion.
Good writing inspires your imagination, emotions, intellect or spirit. Bad writing drains rather than energizes.

Good writing occurs when well-honed writing skills, the love of the language, well crafted characters, true-to-the-ear dialogue, and a good story idea all meet up in the same place at the same time. At that one precious moment in time, the writer can make magic, move worlds, make strong men weep and make the sad girl laugh. In that instant, all is possible, for there are no limits, no boundaries, no restrictions. Good writing is what happens when a writer knows the arcane and brutal rules of grammar and tames them, bends them to his will in an esoteric compromise, forcing them to cavort and dance to his music, his direction. Good writing is the imagination set free, perhaps just tentatively linked to the writer by the most gossamer of threads, to float serenely through the sky, seeing all, or to rocket through the vastness of space -faster than the speed of light- no destination intended but recording all along the way.

She was tired. She placed the baby down next to the bleeding corpse of the burglar. Why does this always happen to me,she asked as she got a frozen pop from the chest. I'm only 10. she thought. and proceeded to load the chainsaws onto the pickup truck. Hope Mom make fries she murmured.
Good writing is when what you just read makes you want to read more. If it does, the author has connected to you. If you could care less,they have failed.

I like stories that involve the reader intellectually and emotionally. Intriguing science, social scenario and politics is good, but it needs a romantic or child element. Harry Potter for instance had no romance (at first) but it was about kids in a way that touched the heart. Pets can do it, too.
I would like to show you what I did with my stories. Write me from your email account (not from inside Answers) so I can attach a PDF of what I wrote. I put a science fiction story and a Harry Potter story in my blogs. The science fiction is now published. "Harry Potter and His Unexpected End" I wrote just for fun and in admiration of JKR.
