Put a little but of hairspray on a cloth and rub lightly.

NO it's not a joke, hairspray breaks down ink. Works great on ink stains on fabric!

If you mean ballpoint pen ink, try putting dish detergent or laundry detergent on a moistened
towel/paper towel. Then rinse off with water.
I think that 409 or a cleaner like that should work, too. If it's ball point ink, it is grease based. This worked for me when my children were little. For pencil, use an eraser first, then clean with whatever above.

409 can damage the paint if you use very much.

Tough one, but I would use aerosol hair spray or goof-off. It may make your wood a bit dull if taking off the clear coat, but if its a decent paint job, the paint will be OK.

Try using the alcohol hand sanitizer. It worked getting permanent marker off of my new countertops in my kitchen. I would try a small section first if I were you.
