I bought a 94' cavalier for $200 and I knew it needed work. But When I drive It the coolant ends up boiling and smoke pours out from under my hood. lol
While coolant is boiling oil starting pouring out of somewhere. I was thinking it might just need a new thermostat and a few gaskets...

I'd like to get some feed back and ideas.

It could be a head gasket, or thermostat, Or there may be air bubbles trapped in your cooling system. There should be a bleeder screw on the thermostat assy. Just follow the top radiator hose to the thermostat housing and look for a small bolt sticking out of it. Crack this bolt loose a couple of turns. if nothing comes out that's the air bleeding out or the bleeder could be clogged. If it is clogged then back it out almost all the way but not completely out and see if air or bubbles will come out near the threads. Do this with the car running at idle. Eventually you should see nothing but coolant coming out. Then tighten up the nut and top off your coolant. If you can't get rid off the air and it doesn't fix the problem get it checked for a blown head gasket. They do have a tool that uses a special fluid that will change color if the head gasket is blown.

If is is smoking you may have a bad head gasket. Make sure your electric fan is turning when the engine is hot, if it is not the sensor may be bad or the relay or motor. I think you have a real problem if the oil is coming out too. Just be thankful you only paid $200 for it.

You might have a head gasket leak or a clogged exhaust system. Change the thermostat first, its cheep but if the problem continues, get rid of the car. It's not worth any more than scrap.

Mine did that and it needed a new thermostat, I also had another that totally needed a new radiator. I would try replacing the thermostat first. Thermostat is wayyyy cheaper than a new radiator!

Blown head gasket or cracked block. More than likely head gasket.

Most likely thermostat or radiator. I'd advise against buying $200 cars in the future.
