Gwyneth Paltow-has done a few British Accents etc
Rene Zellwegger-Bridget Jones

Definitely has to be Johnny Depp, he performs the british accent better then a british person.
A close second would be Mike Myers for the super spy extraordinary man of mystery Austin Powers "oh behave baby, yeah"

In "Robin Hood - Men in tights" Cary Elwes is asked what makes him the best Robin Hood and he answers "Unlike the others I can do it with an english accent".

Catch the moment if you can it's very amusing.

I think the absolute master of accents has to be Meryl Streep, she always gets it so right... her polish in "Sophie's Choice", her English in another film I cant quite place, but she's married to Charles Dance who's a British Diplomat, and she's ruining his career because she's half baked! She also does a good english accent in "The French Lieutenants woman"

Johnny Depp in 'From Hell' - rubbish storyline but Depp makes it totally watchable - and as someone who's lived in the EastEnd of London for the past 20 years I can vouch for the accuracy of the accent!

I'd probably have to say (even though she hasn't done that many good films) Gweneth Paltrow.
She does the English accent but doesn't stereo type it, as most Americans think were either football hooligans or bowler hat wearing spiffs.

Americans can't do Engish accents!

There hasn't ever been a realistically good one, the closest I have heard would be Stan Laurel in A chump at Oxford. Even then he was born in Ulverston in Cumbria, England. So I don't suppose he counts.

Renee Zellweger in Bridget Jones' Diary was astoundingly good, particularly since her normal Texan twang is so strong.
