Ok, this is kind of a weird question..I just got my liscense and we're currently trying to find insurace for me..now the car I'm gonna drive i share with my dad. Let's say I wanted to drive somewhere tomorrow and I bring my dad along and he sits in the passenger seat. Is that illigal? If I get pulled over and they ask for liscense and registration, can we just tell them I'm 'praticing' (which I am) and going to get insurance soon?

Insurance follows the vehicle, not the driver. If you are driving with permission, and the vehicle has insurance, you are covered.

If I understand the question correctly....as long as the "vehicle" is insured then you are fine. If you dad already drives the car and it has insurance then you are able to drive the car but you would need to have your name put on the policy. But....if your dad is not driving the car right now and it has no insurance "on the car"....the wheels should not be moving!!

If the car is registered in your name, then you must have insurance to drive it legally. If the car is registered to your father, then he being an adult should have insurance, and you would be covered as long as you are an authorized driver of the car. You must be listed with his insurance company as a driver of his auto for it to cover you. Just because a person has insurance doesn't mean everybody who drives that car is covered.

If you have a license that is not restricted and the owner of the car has insurance and you have proof in the car you need no one riding with you. IF you have restrictions on your license then you need the rider. Be sure to have proof of insurance and your license with you.
