He is upset about the bill passed by Congress . This Bill omits many rights that criminals are entitled to under our legal system. Allows "military commissions" to prosecute terrorists. It also would prohibit the severe abuse of detainees, like mutilation and rape, but grant the president leeway to decide which other interrogation techniques are permissible.
By adding the definition "unlawful enemy combatant" to the Bill, the US exec. branch can indefinitely detain any person that has been determined to have "purposefully and materially"supported anti-US organizations. The bill stops prosecution of CIA personnel who extract info from these detainees(under guidelines, torture not allowed, even though some will say it is.)The bill rejects the right to a speedy trial, and the right to self-representation. All defendants will have to have a military defense attorney. The trials will be open . the only time the trials will be closed is to protect the security of individuals or the chance where information made public could harm national security. The defendants will be present , unless they are disruptive, they have a right to respond to the evidence against them and guilt has to exceed reasonable doubt..
This bill in no way resembles anything US citizens face in a Judiciary way , but then again these are not US citizens but people that want to harm this country. There is no way the bill will stay like it is , I'm sure it will be tweeked quite a bit through our legal system...
