I am looking in to purchasing a fire safe for my home. What I do wonder though is, where is the best/ safest place to put the safe within the home? I have two stories in my house if that makes a difference.

Thank you!

It will be about 130-150 pounds, and is just a free standing safe. It's about 18" all around.

If I were you, this is the sort of question you ask a professional. You don't want someone to know the whereabouts as they may come themselves or send someone to steal it. This requires you to be a bit creative.

How big is the safe? If it's the floor kind that weighs 90+ pounds, you can put it in the garage or a closet and mount it to the floor with lag screws. If it's a small safe, anchor it to an object or better yet, chain it to a lag bolt screwed into a wall stud or floor joist.

We have a closet under our stairs and we have inset one into the wall in the back. It is easily accessible but yet out of the way. A master bedroom closet might be a good place too.

It depends on size & how much U use it. If it's large & U only use it once a week, I'd put it in a closet in your bedroom for easy access. If it's only now & then & depending on size I'd put in a place where it wouldn't be seen but not easy to access or carry off.
