Most states have used vehicle you can get if you are like a fire department. Once you get them you can not sell them. We got a real nice ambulance that was part of the Air National Guard. We also got a 5000 gallon tanker that was part off the Air National Guard. We got a quick attack brush truck also. We put in for the vehicles through the DNR. Our city bought a county snowplow with de-icing equipment, but we had to pay $2000 to the county for that. If you are a fire department you can get grant money, you just need to look for it. FEMA is a good place. We got a 2005 pumper tanker for $15000. We had to pay 10% of the $150,000 price. We had the apparatus company add a few features and that cost us extra. City, county and state will usually hold an auction for vehicles.
