No. He is having his head shaven before chemo.
My brother was recently diagnosed with leukemia. He had been growing out his hair to donate to "Locks of Love" so they could make wigs for little kids on chemo.
He will shave his head before he undergoes chemo, and send in one last donation.
But the reason he does that is because some people, especially little kids, are sensitive about the hair loss. He wouldn't want anyone else to cut theirs off, unless they had at least ten inches of hair to send in to that organization.

I may have CML-leukemia, and I personally would prefer that they did not.
But that is me. I have been growing hair for "Locks of Love" for several years. It is almost time for another donation and still leave a decent amount of hair. I like my hair, but the way things worked out, I was unable to have it cut for a while several years ago, and heard of the organization. Seemed like a real good idea to me, and I just had the hair available. Seems kind of ironic now.
It absolutely depends on the circumstances. Some of us would not feel comfortable with others putting on a display. If the loss of hair really distresses the person, then it can be a compassionate action.
On the other hand, kids and some others might appreciate it. Personally, if the second diagnosis comes back positive(Oct20th full results due-lots of tests today, that's why I can't sleep), I would prefer that if someone wanted to show compassion to me, that they grow their's out to donate to locks of love, Children are different from adults, and schoolmates can make them uncomfortable.
Thanks to everyone who supports that organization to help little kids feel a little more comfortable in a traumatic time.

Well, I am growing my hair to donate it to Locks of Love once it's long enough, but I would shave my head anyway. I want to do that because my cousin was recently diagnosed with breast cancer.

My head is shaved anyway, but my aunt had to take the therapy and she had just a few scraggly strands. So I shaved hers for her and made our picture together. It made her feel better about it. Her hair grew back after the therapy.

If it made them feel better, absolutely.
When I was in high school, we had a kid in our class who was diagnosed with Leukemia and of course he lost his hair when he went through Chemotherapy, so the entire football team shaved their heads in show of support for him! I thought it was such a sweet thing to do!

Only if it was my daughter. And my Dad did have Cancer. But he died before he had the chance to lose all his hair. Right now, I'm growing my hair out to make wigs for kids that are on chemo.

Maybe it all depended on how close they were to me and how they felt about having there head shaved.

it depends on wheither they would want you to do that or not. maybe you should talk to them about it. it would also depend if it is a male or a female who has the cancer. my mom had cancer when i was young and i shaved my head.
