With the way you phrased the question, we can only sympathise with you and say something general like just keep trying at it, nevermind the score - it's not your school teacher, it's just a machine and scores are not your grades. Try to change the options to slower pace, increase the pace gradually.
If it helps you - I'm a dancer, but I don't play DDR. So when I try DDR at movie theaters I'm way worse at it then the rest of the kids. Conclusion: more practice is required.

it's just a matter of timing (rhythm) and body coordination (especially the feet).
the truth... you don't need help. if you wanna dance dance revolution, go ahead!!! don't mind the score, the winning or even the "game over". i'm sure, in no time, you'll be a master.

the thing about dance dance revolution is that it doesn't test your dancing skills, just your memorization ones
just change the options to fit your pace, and start doing it step-by-step. i know this is a cliché, but it's so true "practice makes perfect"
