Sadly, almost ALL of these are marketing tools. If you get e-mail indicating that you've won something it's most likely a scam.
Additionally, the flashy pop-ups and other attractive links you find will also require you to buy something. Beware anything that asks for personal information or credit card numbers.

Whatever you got in the email it is a SCAM.
If it comes by email it is always a SCAM so dont ask about the guy from Nigera or about the reward from Microsoft if you forward this email or anything else. IT IS A SCAM!!!!!
There are at least 10 questions a day like this. It is ALWAYS A SCAM. It always will be a scam. There is no tooth fary either.

there are always strings attached.generally you will win a weekend at a motel, but you have to pay your own way there, then attend a seminar about buyinga condo nearby which incidentally lasts all three days
