With more and more magazines having there content online I was wondering if this has effected magazine sales. I have an online magazine and I'm considering going to print but I'm also wondering if it's a waste of time and money.

According to Advertising Week - they had an article about 6 weeks ago stating the fact that magazine sales are down. However, not due to online magazines but lack of readership and too many competitive magazines out there now.

The article revolved around teen magazines especially going out of business.

No matter how great the internet has become -- there is still nothing quite the same as holding a printed piece and taking your time reading it in a relaxing position.

Absoultely a waste of time and money. I work in the media and several newspapers along with magazines are cutting overhead which means jobs.

Dallas Morning News, Scripps Howard.... all of the print media is hurting because of the internet.

Many are looking for ways to cash in with "New Media" which is another way of saying Internet sites.

Look elsewhere for income.... unless you're outstanding in what you do!

I am in Mag Distribution and sales are down. However there are tons of new titles out there so it really depends on content and having a certain niche whether you would be successful. Unless you have TONS of money to pay retail chains, airports, and newstands (I call it "pay to play") to promote your title at Checkouts I'd say you are better off where you are.....maybe you should poll your customers you already have online and see what their response would be to a printed copy. It's very expensive.

I have heard they are, but then again, there is such a variety now, that sales may not be down, just different mag's because they must share the wealth...
