Since they began as angels, infused with a love for humanity, then sinned and were punished for that sin by being forced to harm humans wouldn't they actually be good beings forced to do bad things? Not to mention the fact that they only harm a human once that human has sinned themselves, they actually serve to motivate us to be better people. Are demons actually evil, or are they the ultimate symbol of tough love?

The point of a philosophical question is the same as a hypothetical one. Can you not imagine that demons exist for however long it takes to contemplate the question and nothing more? Some of you people need to grow an imagination............

According to mythology they were angels who rebelled against God's Rule.

See.. even those actually in touch with God knew he was an arsehole and not fit to rule.

How can a ruler tell us how to live and then make us take responsibility for our lives?

We either rule ourselves and be responsible, or we don't rule ourselves and get off scott free. Even God can't have it both ways.

I used to think 'evil' was held in the eye of the beholder, but now as I continue on, I am learning that malefic entities do in fact exist. Perhaps it is best to have the answer answered individually? It is factual to me though that all evil ultimately works for the Good.
I believe that "demons" are to the "angels" as the primates are to the humans. Hierarchy's exist everywhere, therefor some may be better tempered than others. I believe most are incredibly dangerous while others MAY? consciously be experiencing love. The "demons" are either symbiotic or parasitic. They need use of our minds to further their own path in evolution and are not particularly compassionate to our suffering, I think some feast on it. Though they are trapped within the 'Human life-wave' (as stragglers of their own life wave; hence:Left Behind)and have served to bring about our consciousness through 'knowledge of good and evil' (suffering) they are dangerous. Discernment of an individual "demons" current evolutionary standing ( as in: have they learned that love is their upward evolution?) (or are they reveling in inflicting pain to humans: the downward spiral) may seem abstract but it is in fact an event we deal with everyday in relating to "people" in our own lives.

If you don't believe in suffering then you might as well burn every book that's been written along with music and film. It's hypocritical to say evil exist when we are inspired by the misery of others. Everything should be considered sacred not just the pretty half.

Yes - they're ALWAYS evil. Everyone has their own demons - even the bad guys. However, not everyone shares the same demon. John for example might think Demon 1 is evil but Dean might think Demon 1 is an angel! The same works in reverse where Dean's personal demon is John's angel.

Demons are evil in nature, and are obedient to Satan, their ruler. In the Bible they are also known as "evil spirits" or "unclean spirits". They are evil, malicious, deceptive and never to be trusted. Demons are the "foot soldiers" in Satan's kingdom, and they are the ones we deal with on a day to day basis, whether we realize it or not.

Satan's only goal is to steal, kill and destroy (John 10:10) humans. And since demons do the devil's bidding, they only seek to destroy people constantly.

I think you have a wrong perception and understanding of what one actually is! Yes, they began as angels BUT chose to go against God. They ARE NOT FORCED! THEY CHOSE to TORMENT US! Yes, you are right that they can only have authority over someone in sin! They DO NOT serve to motivate us! Maybe you might enjoy this type of motivation HOWEVER it is Not Motivation! They Enjoy to wrong and torment people.....Not motivate!
