a 3/4 ton will have 8 lug axles, the rear will be a full floating design (though there have been some light duty 3/4s with a semi float axle like on vans). u joints will be a 1350 series instead of a 1310.
it will have larger brakes, cooling system, charging system, the frame will be more heavy duty, spring rate with be greater, as will the capacity, engine depending on models may be larger or have more options as far as size and type (gas or diesel).
tire size is minimum 16", now often larger, tires are "d" or "e" load range.
otherwise the trucks are the same.

A 3/4 ton pickup weighs more because it's designed to haul 1,500 pounds (or 3/4 ton) safely, as opposed to a 1/2 ton pickup, which is designed to haul 1,000 pounds safely.

about a 1/4 ton
it dosent weigh 1/2 or 1/4 ton. you really think a truck of that size is only 500 to 1000 pounds. Its the load capacity.

1/2 ton would be fine. I know you don't want to trailer the bike, but it is Sooooo much easier than loading and unloading a big bike in a pickup truck. My bike weighs 525 and I did the truck thing for a year and then bought an inexpensive 5x8 foot trailer, installed a wheel chock for my bike and it was the best thing I ever done. I would give it some more thought about the trailer.

It isn't the weight of the truck. It's the truck's carrying capacity. A 1/2 ton is only a thousand pounds. My minivan weighs almost 4 times as much.
The differences are in the size of the truck bed, the strength of th frame and suspension.
Light duty trucks are desirable because they are lighter in weight, so get better mileage. The suspensions are springier, so that they provide a more comfortable ride, etc. The heavier rated trucks are prefered when the greater capacity is needed more than the mileage and comfort of the lighter truck.

Usually that means the weight capacity. The 3/4 ton will likely have larger wheels and tires, springs, and perhaps a larger cooling system.

it doesn't refer to weight, it refers to towing capacity (how much it can tow without the frame twisting) if you want a real work truck that you can go almost anywhere, you need a 3/4 ton truck. but if you just need one for looks, family, or luxury, then stick with a 1/2 ton
