plentifull
My favorite musician
John lee Hooker because he taught the world that simple things can be things of beauty too.
BB King no one can make a guitar cry except for old BB. Even at the age of 81.
Stevie Ray Vaughn. The most virtuous guitar man of modern times. Too bad he left much too soon.
Elmore James no one can play slide guitar like he did. He was truly unique though not very original songwise.
Eric Clapton. he's a chameleon ask him to do Hendrix and he'll do it, ask him to play BB King and he'll do it. Ask him to play Bob Marley and he'll still do it. It's just a pitty most of the time he laks a little of the intensity the original artists have (that's not to say he's not original)
But The one, the only, the original that takes the cake for me is mr Robert Johnson. A delta blues man who allegedly sold his soul to the devil to learn how to play the blues. I consider him to be the best mostly for one reason. If you read interviews with all the above artists and all other great gitarists they will always say one thing when that name is mentioned. I can do a lot, but that is something I can't do. I think if the entire music industry vouches for you like that it has to be worth something. And it is check out his music if you don't know him it's freakishly good.

Link Wray - first major guitarist to use power chords and distortion (1950s)
Dick Dale - "King of Surf Guitar" Leo Fender's amps weren't loud enough either, so Leo had to design special amps just to handle Dale's needs.

Alot of the other names that have been mentioned have been great, but without these two, you don't have the development of intentionally distorted music, the simplicity of the power chord, and really loud, but still clean amplification.
