I live in St. Louis. St. Louis fans live, eat, and breathe the Cardinals. I can't tell you the disappointment on people's faces, especially after last night's loss, but also Carpenter's loss to SD.
Card's fans never stop believing, so the Astros fans better watch out because the ballpark this weekend will be filled to capacity. We'll do everything in our power to propel the Cards to the playoffs.
Realistically, it doesn't look promising for the Cardinals, but amazing things happen in sports and knowing Albert Pujols, he'll will this team to the playoffs.
The other facet of this situation is that the Cardinals may be forced to makeup a rainout to the SF Giants on Monday depending on how the weekend pans out. In addition, since the Cardinals fall from grace, it appears if they do make it to the playoffs and the Phillies win the wild card, then we'll be playing the Mets in the first round. The only benefit to that is Carpenter goes twice in a 5 game series and Pedro hasn't looked so hot for the Mets.
I'll be bleeding red for the next three days (and hopefully through the month of October)!

I really think the Astros can pull this off. The Cardinals are simply dying out there. Even though they've got a few injuries on their hands, think of the Astros. All of their starting pitchers have been injured at some point of the season. Backe is done until 2008. All of position players have suffered through some kind of slump. If they make it to the postseason, it will definitely be the biggest upset in baseball history.

The Cardinals are on the verge of the biggest collapse of all time. As a Cubs fan it's kind of fun to watch. The only way it could get any better is if it were the Packers!

I've heard a rumor about the Cardinals changing their name.
From 2007 on, they'll be called the St. Albert Cardinals

Astros are too hot right now. Cardinals will be lucky to make the playoffs. Astros look stronger now, and I suspect they will win the division.

They should come out on top, they're playing the Brewers for god sakes. Of course, Houston has the Braves so one loss by either team means disaster. It will be interesting to see what happens.
I'm not a Cardinals fan, I'm in Pittsburgh so I got to be a Pirates fan (even if they do suck)

many times even as those 2 meet, you could throw the archives and modern streaks out the window. even although the Cardinals have had a miles more beneficial positive crew this season, they have not performed nicely adversarial to the Cubs, and it really is coming from a huge Cardinals fan.
