I mean, these guys flaunt the laws wherever they go, walling themselves off from police and forcing little girls as young as 12 into incestuous poligamyst marriages and practicing all manner of perversion and calling it their religion!!

Mormons don't practise polygamy! How many times does this stupid question have to be asked! Anyone practising this and claiming to be a Mormon is a liar, because they would be excommunicated. ....Gees, how dumb can you get!

The government has much more important things to do- like bilking the American people out of dozens of billions of dollars, angering and alienating the entire world, accusing anyone who disagrees one iota with the current policies as a sympathizer and being unpatriotic, etc. They also are working hard to pass laws in secret (most people posting on here probably don't even know about them) that will further erode our freedoms and rights, force Christianity down the throats of every American (completely thumbing their nose at the Constitution and its principles by doing so), and take away even the ability of the average person to fight for their rights back once they've been stolen! Does that answer your question? The actions of a few miscreants and rebels in Utah do not matter to the Federal Government one iota in reality, the story is just a ruse to keep you distracted from what else is going on in the world. The only reason they'd go after polygamists is if they weren't paying their taxes.

I don't know. I'm just glad they caught Warren Jeffs. I heard some of their teachings on a video clip (shown on the Dr. Phil show). It really creeps me out.

EDIT: Mormon Fundamentalists (FLDS) and Mormons (LDS) are not the same religions. Mormons stopped practicing polygamy over 100 years ago. Mormon Fundamentalists broke away from the Mormon church after that.

Because you need witnesses to convict people of crimes, and the witnesses are few and far-between. That's how the law works. Once the top leaders are convicted, my guess is the people will have to re-examine what they are doing and why.
P.S. I see the next answerer is claiming something that isn't true. The people who are fundamentalist polygamists are absolutely NOT true members nor part of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and anyone who preaches or practices polygamy in this day and age will be disciplined and excommunicated from the church.

Mormonism is a perverted religion.
I think the question is who is going to pay for it.
The government actually supports them by paying welfare to the women and children.

Tom Green was charged:
RAPE OF A CHILD. a first degree felony had sexual intercourse with a child who was under the
age of 14 years.

third degree felony knowing
that he had a wife, cohabited with another person, Shirley

third degree felony knowing
that he had a wife, cohabited with another person, Leeann

third degree felony knowing
that he had a wife, cohabited with another person, Cari

third degree felony knowing
that he had a wife, cohabited with another person, Hannah

CRIMINAL NON-SUPPORT, A third degree felony, he knowingly failed to provide for the support of the spouse, child or children when any one of them would be in needy circumstances but for support received from a source other than the defendant or paid on the defendant's behalf and that at the time the defendant had back child support arrearages in excess of $10,000.00

PROVO, Utah (AP) -- A Mormon fundamentalist with five wives and 30 children was sentenced to five years in prison Friday in Utah' s biggest polygamy case in nearly half a century.

Tom Green, 53, also was ordered to repay $78, 000 to the state for welfare checks fraudulently collected by his family.

He could have gotten up to 25 years behind bars.

Prosecutor David Leavitt had asked for 10 years in prison.

Leavitt, the brother of Gov. Michael Leavitt and the product of a Mormon family with a polygamist past, dismissed any suggestion that Green had been singled out.

" Whenever someone gives me a provable case of any type, of any kind, I' m going to prosecute it, " he said after the hearing

There is a thing called separation of church and state that impairs the dealings. If they were planning to do harm to others, you can bet they would be there. Another factor is that they keep a low profile.

It is not up to the government to enforce the laws in each state. It is up to the individual states judicial system..
