Well, I'm not generally stupid or gullible... but he sounded so sincere!

Maybe he really earned his money for his good acting.

Remember, if he had really needed your help it would have made a difference.

I wouldn't be so stupid. I'd buy someone food, but not give them money. I'm not a moron. Anyways, if this did happen to me, I'd knock him down, take his vodka & cigarettes, then kick him a few times. I'd make a big friggin embarassing scene so he'd feel like a stupid a*ss. Then, if the stuff wasn't opened, I'd take it back to the store & get my money back. So what did you do? I hope you did something & didn't just watch that jacka*ss piss your money away. Oh well...you're a good person for it. Just next time buy the ticket. Most decent people have someone they can call, instead of having to bum shi*t off strangers.

I have a rule for this. I don't give out money to anyone, no matter what they tell me. I work too hard for the little money I have, so I don't give it out. If I did break my own rule and give money to the guy in question I would learn my lesson that way and vow to never give out my hard earned money to strangers with great stories. I could use the booze and smokes just as much as him. ha ha

I think if someone wants to help out a stranger, that's up to them. But instead of giving them the money/Euro, I think it's a better idea to buy what they are asking for (Food,Transportation Ticket...etc..) then to just give them the cash!

Funny enough this has happened to me as well. My guy however bought cigarettes and a 40 oz. bottle of beer. What i did was i went right up to the guy took the cigarettes and the beer, i kept the cigarettes and smashed the beer on the ground, i then casually said "thank you for buying me cigs, i hope theirs enough change for you to get home."

This just happened to me a couple of weeks ago in Chicago. Out of policy, I just never give out money. However, I have bought food for homeless people before.

Blow it off since stuff like that happens all the time. You felt good doing a good deed. Many times I give a drunk money. I know he is going to spend it on booze or cigs but if he looks down on his luck let him enjoy a good day.

I'd think of it as a lesson learned. Never give money, only what they say they want it for. I'd rather give a homeless guy a coffee and sandwich then see him spend it on crap.

I'd confront him.... embarass him... if only to make him think twice about doing it again. Probably wouldn't stop him long term, but might save at least one fellow/lady from sharing the same experience.

I'd go grab the bottle of vodka and take it home and drink it! Cheers!

I've had homeless ask me for money to buy food, then I'll see them again with a bottle. Horrible.
