Can you simulate a traffic light that changes its timing based on the amount of traffic at the intersection?
Can you grow a hybrid plant?
Can you design a system to alert parents when their kid has gone too far from them in a mall? So it makes noise when the pieces are more than a certain distance apart?

get a bunch of petri dishes, put in a geletin mixture. Then once that is dry, rub loads of different items on each one. One dish could be money or flies or a spoon or your finger. Then wait and see what kind of bacteria grows. when I was in middle school, i won my science fair with this. Give your teacher your idea and ask for help of where to get information to do this.

Do a project with magnets. They're inexpensive, fun, interactive - and quite amazing. Good luck with your project!
