Oops. You missed your appointment. You can't really tell until the sonogram.

I have 9 month old twins, my mum is a twin so the odds were higher for me. Twins run in the womans side of the family & it's non identical twins that that apparently skip a generation! I can't imagine there being any way of you telling if you're carrying twins so unfortunately you'll have to wait.
I have a 2 yr old & whilst pregnant with her I knew it could be twins, so this time I asked my midwife at my antenatal appointment if she could hear 2 heartbeats & she said no so what a shock it was when at my 4 1/2 month scan we found out it was twins! The moral here is anything is possible so until you give birth you can never be sure!

I have 15 month old twins and I had NO idea I was carrying two babies. I had really bad morning sickness and tiredness which I didn't experience with my first daughter but I just put that down to the fact that "I must be having a boy" LOL
I started showing much earlier but put this down to the fact that I had already had a baby and "everything was already stretched"
Unfortunately, I don't think there is any way of knowing until you have a scan - by the way, there are NO twins in my family so I was more than a little shocked!!
Good Luck with your pregnancy and believe me, if it does turn out to be twins - they are hard work but such a joy

I'm having twins and my symptoms have been exaggerated throughout the entire pregnancy. I understand that a lot of women have extreme symptoms, ie. nausea, heartburn, headaches, fatigue, etc... Also, I started showing rather quickly. On the other hand, my husband has a cousin who is having twins and she didn't have hardly any symptoms. She found out at her 20 week ultrasound. I would guess that the only real way to tell is the day of delivery. Ultrasounds today are very reliable and most definitely going to give you the answer, but I've even heard strange stories of women having twins when only one baby was visible on the sonogram.

You have a sona gram done and they can usually tell you if it's twins or not. Sometimes you have to have more than one. When I had my oldest daughter they told me I was having twins. They heard two heartbeats the whole time I was in labor. When it was over I only had one baby 9 lbs 5 ozs 21 inches long. They were hearing her heart beat in an echo chamber. What ever it turns out one, two, or even three, I wish you the best.

The memory is one of the first things to go when pregnant! Make sure you've written your appointment down somewhere you can't forget - that's the only way you'll find out!
Make sure the scan is detailed. I know of someone who was scanned and had one baby show up but her bloods were wrong and so she was sent for another scan to make sure everything was OK and it turned out to be twins. Then the next scan showed up triplets!!
Good luck whatever number you have!

Hi there..first congrats on the pregnancy!
There were twins on both sides of our families but we have just gone on to have 2 boys separately-one is 2 yrs old and the other has just turned 6 years old.
I guess you just have to wait for the ultrasound!

I think you meant 10th of Oct.
BTW.. first off.. congrats on the pregnancy.
Secondly there is no way of telling other than ultra sound. Many who are pregnant with twins will be bigger in size than a carrying a singleton but that is not the rule for everyone.
good luck!

Well most doctors tell buy giving you an ultrasound and by listening to the babies heart beats... so if your midwife doesn't have that kind of equipment go see a doctor...

The 10th of September has come and gone.
If there are two babies, you'll know you're having twins.

Not really, every pregnancy is different so there's no way to tell. My husband and I are both in line for twins so he swore up and down this pregnancy was going to be twins, it's been really weird and we're still early, but ultrasound confirmed only one. That's the only way to tell....good luck to you!
