With the way most people are fed up with politicians and their empty promises, you have to wonder if the day will come when this might happen. At the very least, the turnouts could dwindle to the point where much concern would be raised.

Please answer as if this were to actually happen. I'm sure it won't, but I'd still like to know what some of you might think if, hypothetically, it did happen.

A better scenario: Many years ago in a small town it Texas, people were unhappy that the only person on the ballot was the encumbant sherrif. They actually wrote in Mickey Mouse. Mickey won the election. Personally, I would vote for Betty Boop. It is about time a woman gets voted into the white house.

Well, that would never happen because the people running in the election would vote for themselves and his/her spouse would more than likely also vote. And lets say there was a tie- the Supreme Court would decide. And, there will always be the people come to the polls for the wrong reasons and just vote for the Republican or Democrat because they don't care to learn about what the candidate truly wants for his/her country.
People should vote for the issues and not for the person or party

It wouldn't matter the electoral college would still elect people to fill the position. You don't think your vote really counts do you?? If it did why would they announce winners the day the polls close they would have to wait for all the mail in ballots were counted but they don't. They would probably say people voted but no one really did!! That's just my opinion I believe the electoral college elects the politicians so it wouldn't make a difference--

I'm not completely sure but I believe Dick Cheney would become president or the Speaker of the House of Representatives. There is already a chain of command in place for say if the president were to die in office and I think this would be the most likely scenario

There probably would be a constitutional crisis, since free elections determine our government. I think a lot of people vote because they can't stand current politicians and enjoy feeling that they can be part of a "regime change".

The Diebold voting machines would still give the election to the Republicans.

I hate to burst your bubble but the people don't elect our president. The electorial college does. There has only been one incident in US history where they went against the populace. Evidently we are to stupid to vote for our own leader. The electorial college is one of the biggest kept secrets in "voter registration"!

It would be like the first election and the Senate would assign somebody.

Won't stop the commercials, though.
