I thought the Hague handles war crimes commited by leaders.

Thank you. I am not a Hussein supporter, but can he get an unbaised trial in Iraq? Also, wouldn't it seem as if the U.S. is the one backing the trial?

For 2 reasons as I see it.

1. To maintain the appearance that the Iraqis have control of their own destiny.

2. the US does not want the rest of the world too intricately involved in their dealings in the middle east.

I seem to remember the US wanted the Iraqi government to try Saddam Hussein as a symbol of Iraq's ability to deal with its own internal problems. However this policy has blown up in their faces as the trial is descending into gruesome farce - the brother-in-law of the trial judge was shot and killed yesterday evening, as were at least three lawyers connected with the trial. I bet the US government wishes they'd just shot Saddam when they had the chance...

think of Hitler or Stalin being exceeded over to a "Hague" courtroom! What got here approximately to Mussolini in Italy would desire to take place to evry bonafide dictator. i won't have faith that on one hand the E.U. condemns the rustic/uk for invading Iraq, yet then on a similar time those E.U. governments desire to intervene with Iraqi justice!

That is only if the country of origin agrees to it. The Iraqis want to deal with this demon themselves.
