I personally have suffered many injustices as far as the police go and it was because of my race. Sometimes i was the victim and other times I had done nothing wrong. I have been pulled over on many occasions and actually asked "How can you afford this typee of car" Like black peoplare only drug dealers and criminals. I filed a restraining order against an ex and the police came to my house looking for him and I tol them why would he be here if I called you. They said "Well you black girls always let your men back in the house". Once I called the poilce because I had a burglary in my home. They never showed up and the police station is 7-8 blocks away. I've also called because a stalker was beating and kicking on my back door and it took them over an hour to come and I called twice and my mother called twice from another location to get help to me. I've had to many bad experiences and no good experiences to respect them at all.

no one: I don't think lack women and children get better treatment. We get a lot of the same treatment, plus some differences in regards to those who are suppose to serve and protect. I've never been protected.

BonnyRogu...I don't need your sympathy and it has nothing to do with where I live. Unwarranted harrassment happens to blacks all over the US by law enforcement. I don't expect you to understand. You and your husband acting silly in a car and the police let you go show biased in itself. You've already mentioned on many occasions you are married to a white man, so you have a sort of immunity if you will. Begging for forgivenes only works when you do something wrong which you did. If I did nothing wrong I have nothing to be sorry for. I do not dislike white people and if you read my questions and actually think about what I'm saying you would know that I do not hate, dislike, or harbor any ill will toward all white people. My questions are posted to create awareness, other views, and to stamp out hate and stereotypes.

For the most part, they've been quite helpful. There was one time when I got into a heated argument with a person who was making fun of my Native American inspired coat and I stormed out of the bar and sped away, blasting through a red light. The police officer pulled me over ( a white officer) and I told him my story and even said i'd had two drinks and he still let me go. There was another time when my husband and I were coming back from a club and we'd been drinking. We were acting silly and headbanging to some song and we got pulled over. I got all hysterical and begged the officer to let us go and said "he's a nurse". The cop let us go. That's just a couple of a few instances where police have not been prejudiced toward me because of my race.

There are, however, other times when police are not as understanding. But, i'm not sure if it's due to race or just them being jaded cops. You know, the public really distrusts and even dislikes officers and they feed off that every day. No wonder many of them have a chip on their shoulder.

I've found it you give them respect (which you should anyway as they are the law), you'll get it. That doesn't mean you'll get out of a ticket like I did. But it won't give them a reason to mess with you.

With that being said, i'm sure there are officers who pick with certain blacks. I'm sure the guys with the loud systems or expensive cars get picked on a lot. But i've seen officers pull over white guys with loud systems and expensive cars too.

Bottom line, if you have tickets, suspended licences, warrants, or a nasty arrogant attitude, the police will royally screw you. And you're to blame in these situations.

I think what it boils down to is individual choices and perceptions. Not all police officers are racist "pigs". Many, if not most, are just trying to do their job ( a dangerous one, at that) and I think they don't get the respect they deserve.

Helpful/Hurtful.....I guess. My mom[black] was in this accident where this man hit her. The policeman though she hit the man so she had to spend 65 dollars to take a test online. Turns out the man once knew the policeman so he let him off easy, but he had to take the test also.

The Police are scum on how the way the treat black people and people of color as if we were monkeys or savages so you know what **** em we pay their salaries we are the ones who put them on the street I think every person should stand up to them and police them ourselves to be better human beings just remember they have he most miserable amped up job and they take their frustrations on black people people of color even sometimes against their own peers. We all need to stand up!
